Education

School teachers play a vital role in a child's development. As a teacher, you have the potential to influence thousands of children and youth throughout your career.

The mission of D'Youville's Department of Education is to collaboratively enhance public and non-public education through the preparation of reflective practitioners and the advancement of professional practices.

The Department of Education has a rich history of preparing some of the most distinguished teachers — including New York State’s 2013 Teacher of the Year Ashli Skura-Dreher. Our students are inspired to make a difference in improving the educational processes in the organizations and communities they serve.

We are committed to educational equity; intellectual, cultural and spiritual diversity; life-long learning; innovative scholarly production; and compassion for and commitment to the communities we serve. We demonstrate a commitment to shared governance, student-centered education, collaboration, professionalism, and social justice.

Our programs, candidates, graduates, and affiliate professionals all demonstrate relevant knowledge, skills, and dispositions within and for their profession. D’Youville is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence, providing and preserving educational equity, and enhancing human dignity and self-determination.
